In a heartbreaking incident, a 25-year-old actress, identified as Pooja Zunjar, and her newborn baby died within minutes of being born due to unavailability of an ambulance.

The incident happened in Maharashtra's Hingoli district on Sunday, on the eve of Maharashtra's assembly elections. Pooja's relatives have claimed that she could've been saved if they had managed to get an ambulance on time. As soon as she went into labour, Pooja was rushed to a primary health centre in Goregaon at around 2 am. "The doctors at the primary health centre then advised Ms Zunjar's family members to shift her to the Hingoli civil hospital, which is around 40 km from Goregaon. Her panicked family members struggled to find an ambulance. They somehow managed to get a private ambulance but she died during the journey," an official reportedly said.

Pooja Zunjar had played the lead role in two Marathi movies and had apparently taken a break from cinema after her pregnancy.
