Now that 'Kutty' has hit the screens, Dhanush's attention is diverted towards 'Mappillai', a remake of a yesteryear film of the same title starring his father-in-law Superstar Rajinikanth.

Produced by Nemichand Jhabak and V Hitesh Jhabak for Sun Pictures, the film directed by Suraaj has Hansika Motwani opposite Dhanush. It has musical score by Mani Sharma.

Says the actor, "The movie is not exactly a remake. We are just using the crux. Suraaj has completely changed the screenplay by adding more comedy elements. Trust me, 'Mappillai' is going to be a laugh riot."

"I am proud that I am going to do a role played by Rajini sir. ‘Mappillai’ is one of my favourite Rajini films and I had watched it many times. But never had I expected that I would do the lead role in its remake," he adds.
