Actor Mansoor Ali Khan has recently initiated legal proceedings against Trisha Krishnan, BJP leader and NCW member Khushbu Sundar, and Mega Star Chiranjeevi, alleging defamatory remarks made on a social media platform. In his legal action, Khan is seeking Rs 1 crore in damages from each individual, contending that these statements were made without proper verification of the facts. He emphasizes in his application that his comments were centered around the declining trend of negative character portrayals in films and were not intended as personal attacks.
In the filed application, Khan states, "I submit that I have not uttered any wrong statement against any persons personally, but merely commented on the negative shades I had played, which has off-late become a vanishing trend, and no personal comments had ever been made about the defendant or any other woman in particular."
The genesis of this legal dispute can be traced back to Khan's earlier controversial remarks about his Leo co-star, Trisha Krishnan, which led to subsequent apologies. Trisha strongly rebuked the comments, deeming them sexist and disrespectful, and declared her decision to refrain from collaborating with Khan in the future. Khushbu Sundar and Chiranjeevi were notable figures who rallied behind Trisha.
Following a complaint by the National Commission for Women, law enforcement became involved, prompting Khan to express regret and seek forgiveness from Trisha during the investigation. Initially reluctant to apologize, Khan later claimed that his statement was misconstrued.
Mansoor Ali Khan's comments about Trisha Krishnan have stirred controversy, as he remarked, "When I heard that I was acting with Trisha, I thought there would be a bedroom scene in the film. I thought I would carry her to the bedroom just like I did with other actresses in my earlier movies. I have done so many rape scenes, and it’s not new to me. But these guys didn’t even show Trisha to me on the sets during the shoot in Kashmir."
In response to these insensitive remarks, Chiranjeevi strongly condemned Mansoor Ali Khan's comments, stating, "My attention was drawn to some reprehensible comments made by actor Mansoor Ali Khan about Trisha. The comments are distasteful and disgusting, not just for an artiste but for any woman or girl. These comments must be condemned in the strongest words. They reek of perversion. I stand with @trishtrashers and every woman who has to be subject to such horrid comments."
Chiranjeevi's words reflect a firm stance against the inappropriate and offensive nature of Mansoor Ali Khan's comments, aligning himself with Trisha Krishnan and women in general who should not be subjected to such derogatory remarks. This public condemnation serves as a powerful statement against any form of disrespect towards women in the industry.
On November 19, 2023, the South Indian Artistes' Association publicly denounced Khan's remarks against Trisha Krishnan, urging a formal apology. They criticized his words not only for their impact on Trisha but also for their repercussions on Khushbu Sundar and Roja, highlighting the broader implications of such comments within the industry.
