Manoj Nandam awaits the release of 'Devi Sri Prasad'. The film also stars Pooja Ramachandran, Bhoopal Raju and Dhanraj in other key roles.
Tell us about the characters Devi, Sri and Prasad.
Bhoopal is playing Devi, a character with negative shades. I am playing Prasad, a positive-minded person. On the other hand, Dhanraj Anna is playing Sri, someone who is ambivalent. What follows when an unusual incident involving them takes place is what the film is about. This is a characterization-based movie.
How did DV Creations enter the picture?
We started out filming this in November last. But since the producers are not big, they faced some minor issues, due to which the release got delayed although the shooting was completed in 25 days.
When Venkatesh garu of DV Creations watched the movie, he liked it as he felt that it has got a lot of commercial movies. He immediately decided to release the film.
How did this film happen to you?
The story was first narrated to me by Dhanraj anna. Director Sri Kishore was in Hong Kong as a dance choreographer. When I liked the script, the director once again gave me a narration. We cogitated over who should play the third role. Finally, we went with Bhoopal.
For Leela's character, about 15 girls were considered. They were not sure as to how the film would turn out. It's then that we approached Pooja Ramachandran.
This film is totally the director's hard work. He didn't want to do a song-and-fight routine. Sri Kishore was keen on offering something new. I must say that this is a cult movie.
Tell us about the production values.
The producers didn't refrain from spending money where was needed. Music director Kamran's work has made it all the more special. Phani's cinematography has ensured nice visuals.
What are your upcoming movies?
'Manasainodu' will release this month. In 'Veerabhoga Vasantha Rayalu', I am playing an interesting character. I had got an opportunity in Mahesh Babu garu's film but it slipped from my hands in the last moment.
