Manoj Bajpayee is undeniably one of the most skilled and technically sound actor of Hindi cinema. With the rise of digital entertainment space and OTT platforms in recent years, Manoj has become a superstar but even before that, the actor has always strived to be part of artistic and content driven films.
During a recent conversation with ETimes, Manoj shared that he never really cared about the commercial scale of a project. He said, "I have worked in South films before. I have always been in search of good stories. I don't care if the film is made with 1000 crores, 500 crores or 300 crores. I don’t work like that. Nowadays, everyone just wants to talk about box office. I have been fighting against the box office trend forever."
The actor further emphasized that films should be judged by their artistic qualities instead of their box office numbers. He said, "The film industry doesn't have anything to do with the actors and the creative people? Why don’t we talk about the quality of the content? Why don’t we talk about the quality of the performances? Why don’t we talk about the quality of cinematography and direction? Why are we only focused on the box office numbers? Those numbers have nothing to do with you, me or the audience. They will go to the producers, right?"
