Manoj Bajpai's 'Aligarh' trailer gets an 'A' certificate: Know Why?

The trailer of the movie 'Aligarh' is out and it is the second time that brilliant actors like Manoj Bajpyee and Rajkummar Rao will be sharing screen, after Chittagong`. The movie Aligarh` is based on the real life story of Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras, the professor of Marathi at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). Siras was later suspended by Aligarh Muslim University after he was caught having consensual sex with a man in his bedroom.
Manoj Bajpayee will be seen playing a pivotal role of the gay professor while Rajkummar Rao plays the journalist who helps the professor to fight back with society and the institutiom. If you have not watched the trailer yet then make it now, because the trailer is very captivating and cast is brilliant.
But sadly, the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) has given the promo an 'Adult' certificate, because the film talks about Section 377, which criminalises Sexual Activies Against the order of Nature, and also includes Homosexual acts. According to a leading daily, Hansal Mehta the director of the film said, "Homosexuality, which sadly continues to be a criminalised act in India and At a time when there`s a need for discussion on the subject, we are being muted."
The movie has received applauds and accoloades at various international film festivals also. Renowned and challenging Hansal Mehta who made movies like Citylights`, Shahid` and NH10` now he has something new to break the monotonous code with 'Aligarh'. The movie 'Aligarh' will hit theatres on February 26, 2016.
