Taking the remake league forward is latest - Manoj Bajpai who will be next seen in the Hindi version of 2011 released Malayalam Blockbuster Traffic.
The announcement was made by the newly launched Eyedentity Motion Pictures, part of renowned television production house Endemol India. The banner is now set out to produce 3-4 films every year with an equal mix of scripts for both regional as well as mainstream Bollywood audiences.
This critically acclaimed emotional thriller boasts of an eclectic ensemble cast with Manoj playing the principal protagonist along with Parambrata and Bengali Superstar Prosenjit.
Talking about as to why he got associated with a remake, Manoj said, "I strongly believe that the success of South Indian scripts lies in the characterization and storytelling. Traffic is an award winning example of this and its great that Endemol has decided to remake it for the Hindi audience. I am delighted to be a part of this movie which has a gripping narrative and emotional drama that revolves around the fate of the key characters."
Directed by Rajesh Pillai, Traffic took the Malayalam film industry by storm with its strong script and a fresh approach. The film received its highest adulation by winning the prestigious black lady for BEST FILM at the 59th Idea Filmfare Awards (South). The maverick director has been signed up to direct the Hindi remake as well.
Based on an inspiring true story, the plot of Traffic intertwines multiple stories around one particular incident bringing together five protagonists from diverse backgrounds and a series of events that change their destiny. This emotional thriller with a powerful narrative and a dramatic climax has been adapted in Hindi by Suresh Nair.
Traffic is slated to go into production in July and is scheduled for a 2013 release.
