Women in Cinema Collective, an association has been officially formed for the welfare of women in the Malayalam entertainment industry. The team led by actress Manju Warrier and editor Beena Paul had met Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at Trivandrum a day ago, May 18th, seeking support for the movement.

Film editor and Artistic Director of International Film Festival of Kerala Beena Paul, actors Manju Warrier, Parvathy, Rima Kallingal, Remya Nambeesan, Sajitha Madathil, directors Anjali Menon, Vidhu Vincent and camera woman Fausiya Fathima are part of this association.

The top executives of the association are Parvathy, Vidhu Vincent, Rima Kallingal and Sajitha Madathil. Artistes and technicians belonging to other associations like AMMA and FEFKA can also be its members.

With this move, the first ever women collective in Indian Cinema, women can sort out their concerns to the association that will solely function for their benefit and can work peacefully in the industry. After the news on Women in Cinema Collective formation broke out on social media, many celebrities in Mollywood showered wishes for the new initiative.
