Telugu hero Nani is a familiar face in Tamil too, as SS Rajamouli's Naan Ee had made him a household name. Besides the actor also starred in two more bilingual movies, Veppam and Aaha Kalyanam both of which couldn't quite make a mark at the box office.

Now a top actor in Tollywood, Nani has reportedly been approached for a role in ace director Maniratnam's next, which is reportedly the film adaptation of Kalki's Ponniyin Selvan. The film is already speculated to feature an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, and Vijay Sethupathi.

It must be noted that Nani was supposed to be a part of Chekka Chivantha Vaanam as well but couldn't act in the movie and the role was played by Arun Vijay. Earlier Nani had worked in OK Bangaram, the Telugu dubbed version of Ok Kanmani where he dubbed for Dulquer Salmaan. It is to be seen if Nani can make it this time to a Maniratnam film.
