Director Karthik Naren has been known for directing the hit thriller Dhuruvangal 16 starring Rahman and while his Naragasooran is yet to release, his third movie Mafia starring Arun Vijay and Prasanna released earlier this year.

The young director is next making D43 starring Dhanush and music scored by GV Prakash, for Sathyajyoti films. On eve of Maniratnam's birthday today, he has now shared a moment when Maniratnam's words motivated him prior to the release of his debut Dhuruvangal 16.

Karthik Naren tweeted "Jan 16, 2016. ‘Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru’ did not have any buyers. Showed the trailer to Mani sir ahead of its online release.
