Mani Ratnam's four lines to Madhavan

Here is an interesting nostalgia about Mani Ratnam and Madhavan. After 'Alaipayuthe' happened, the actor wanted to thank the director and wrote an emotional e-mail.

But Mani's reply came in his typical terse manner and it had just four lines: "I didn't do it for you. I did it as I thought you were good for the film. Don't misplace your gratitude. You should also be like this."

Madhavan, who is making a comeback in Bollywood with 'Tanu Weds Manu 2' and in Kollywood with 'Irudhi Suttru', says his mentor (Mani) is fiercely possessive about anything close to him. "That's Mani Ratnam," he adds.
