Mani Ratnam makes his protege double happy!

R.Kannan's latest directorial and production venture 'Ivan Thanthiran' is turning out to be a sleeper hit of the year. After getting affected by the theatre owners strike which lasted for around a week's time, 'Ivan Thanthiran' got a new life after the strike was withdrawn and it is now running, entering its third week.

During the strike time Kannan had sent an audio message in which he broke down while speaking about the fate of his film. But now he will be relieved man as the film is living to its potential at the box office.

Adding to this, the film was watched by none other than Kannan's mentor and ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam. The latter appreciated the film and that should have placed the 'Jeyamkondan' director double happy. .

It is worth recalling that Gautham Karthik, the lead actor of 'Ivan Thanthiran' was introduced by Mani Ratnam in his 2013 film 'Kadal' while Shraddha Srinaht and RJ Balaji who have played important roles in 'Ivan Thanthiran' were part of Mani' latest film 'Kaatru Veliyidai'.
