Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan-I’ to release in 2022

‘Ponniyin Selvan-I’, which is being directed by Mani Ratnam, will hit the screens in 2022. Produced by Lyca Productions of ‘2.0’, ‘Nawab’ and ‘Kaththi’ fame, the first edition will release next year, the producers today confirmed.

Also produced by Madras Talkies, the magnum opus is a duology based on a Tamil novel written by novelist Kalki. “The production works are currently on at a fast pace. The visual wonder will be released worldwide on a big scale,” a source said. 

The film’s cast is huge and their names will be made official in the near future. Mani Ratnam has teamed up with screenplay writer Jeyamohan for the film.

With music by AR Rahman, its cinematography is by S Ravi Varman. If the production design is by Thota Tharani, its editing is by A Sreekar Prasad. The film is presented by Subaskaran.
