Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan' is undoubtedly one of the most awaited Tamil movies this year. The magnum opus film is being made in two parts and the first instalment is all set to hit the screens on September 30 in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.

Lyca Productions took to social media today to unveil a brand-new poster of 'Ponniyin Selvan 1' featuring Chiyaan Vikram as the majestic Aditya Karikalan, one of the key characters in the story. Aditya Karikalan is a famous Chola prince and heir to the throne. Presenting the poster, the makers wrote, "Welcome the Chola Crown Prince! The Fierce Warrior. The Wild Tiger. Aditya Karikalan! #PS1" (sic).

Chiyaan Vikram was seen sitting on a horse in the poster and surrounded by a spectacular framework. Aditya Karikalan is a war hero and hence we can see the bruises on his skin from the battles. 'Ponniyin Selvan' is an epic historical fiction adapted from the renowned author Kalki's novel of the same name. The story is centred on the conspiracy surrounding the Chola dynasty throne set 1000 years ago.

'Ponniyin Selvan' cast also comprises Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Parthiban, Prakash Raj, Arjun Chidambaram, Vikram Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Prabhu, Kishore, Rahman, Jayaram, Lal, Jayachitra, Riyaz Khan, Sarah, Ashwin Kakumanu and others. AR Rahman scored the music, Ravi Varman handled the cinematography while Anthony served as the film's editor.
