Mani Ratnam is at the top of the list of the most celebrated filmmakers in India for close to four decades now. Even recently in his sixties he has delivered three back to back blockbuster hit films namely 'Chekka Chevantha Vaanam', 'Ponniyin Selvan 1' and 'Ponniyin Selvan 2'.
Suhasini Mani Ratnam on the other hand is also a multiple Best Actress National Award winner who is still busy in several language films. The couple's only son Nandan Mani Ratnam born in 1992 completed his studies abroad. He is famous for authoring the political book 'Contours of Leninism' and has never appeared in film based functions so far.
Now reports are doing the rounds that Nandan has entered the film industry and is now associated with Lyca Productions in London. It is said that business tycoon Subaskaran was very much impressed by the young man's ability to mobilise funds ranging five hundred crores for the two 'Ponniyin Selvan' films. Sources say that Nandan will soon return to India and enter film production full fledged. However this report has not been authenticated as of now.
Mani Ratnam meanwhile is currently scripting his next two films 'KH 234' with Kamal Haasan in the lead and 'STR 50' with Simbu. It is also suggested that the two big actors have actually teamed up for the same film and since its a milestone for Simbu, Kamal has decided to give him the lead role. Lets wait for the official confirmation on this one too.
