At the grand concluding evening celebration of 10th Bengaluru International film festival in banquet hall Vidhana Soudha ace director of this country Manirathnam was felicitated with Rs.10 lakhs cash award.

On the same platform Manirathnam returned the cheque urging for good use of the money in the field. Accordingly the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy Chairman SV Rajendra Singh Babu has deposited this award money given by Manirathnam and adding some more to make it as a fund for the education of cinema students. The students from Karnataka who get highest score in Poona Film Institute or Sathyajith Ray Institute would be allocated the cash reward generating from the interest of Manirathnam given money of Rs.10 lakhs.

SV Rajendra Singh Babu head of KCA has also urged government of Karnataka to give the facility for Academy on the lines of Kerala State government. For more activities from KCA, man power and money power is the requirement he feels.

Setting up literary personality’s team to trace right novel for making a Kannada film is working out well. For such novel based films the government of Karnataka subsidy is a welcome gesture he says.
