`Mandhira Punnahai' is about Hunger, Anger, Tears, Laughter, Love, Lust, all the basic feelings of humans. Karu. Palaniappan is known for his agile handling of human emotions in his films and the songs also reflect the emotions rightly. His previous films Parthiban Kanavu, Pirivom Santhippom and others had a sharp emotional share in their songs.
Karu's regular Vidyasagar has scored the music. There are seven songs in the film. Five of them are montage songs and one solo song picturised on the heroine and one is a surplus remix.
Lyricist Arivumadhi who was away from the scene for five years has returned to write lyrics with this film. He has written five songs and Vivega has written one.
Sudha Raghunathan who missed out the super hit melody song "Aalankuyil..." from `Parthiban Kanavu' but has sung a lovely number.
Te audio of the film was launched on October 20, 2010 at PVR cinemas in Chennai.

"Satta Sada Sada" has a fancy beginning and a vibrant blend of Indian and western melody takes over almost immediately. Violin tips are throughout with a dreamy trance beats accompanying. This is a characteristic Vidyasagar melody which respects the lyric.
Karthik and Swetha Mohan are versatile and prove that once again. The chorus and harmony in between is a pleasure. Arivumathi says simple humans do not need a reason to fall in love and after they fall in love they don't reason it.

A patterned drunkard `dapang kuthu' for the front benches. Don't know where it fits in the story.

Marvelously begins with a flute and it reigns through out. This stunning traditional number is `O Ho' in the voice of Sudha Raghunathan. Traditional instruments like flute and tabla run riot like in any other classical number. Must be a terrific situational song to take the story forward.

"Anbillama Karanchadhu" sounds like a sufi rock band's composition. A dejected lover narrating his harrowing feelings is it is about. The beats are very peppy with a good mix of wind and percussion instruments.
5. Megam Vandhu Pogum - Listen here

"Megam Vandhu Pogum" is a soulful melody in the album. Anweshaa is the main singer with Madhu Balakrishnan chipping in for just one line in the middle. The heroine is feeling for her mistake of falling in love so late. No heavy orchestration and the ascent and descent of the rhythms are impressive. Arivumathi's imageries are great.
6. Siththan Mugam Ondru - Listen here

This song is purely led by the words of Arivumathi. It is about the multitude of human characters you get to see every day. With a philosophical tinge and an aggressive tune this one sound fine.

When the normal version itself is looking out of place, what to say of the remix version. The pubs in the city may lap it up for its trance and techno characters.
Vidyasagar has returned with a bang. Although he has not equaled his previous records set in the company of Karu Palaniappan the songs of `Mandhira Punnahai' are warm and satisfying.
