Manchu Mohan Babu surrendered his licensed guns after receiving warnings from the Rachakonda Commissioner of Police. The police had cautioned that failure to comply would result in a warrant being issued and his arrest.
Responding swiftly, Mohan Babu turned in one of his two guns at Chandragiri Police Station, where its license was also collected. The second gun was surrendered at Film Nagar Police Station, and its license was also taken there.
The action stemmed from a family dispute involving Mohan Babu’s two sons, which reportedly escalated into a physical altercation involving bouncers. During the commotion, Mohan Babu allegedly attacked a media representative in anger.
Following these incidents, the police issued notices requiring him to surrender his guns. Despite being summoned, Mohan Babu initially sought relief from the court. He secured a temporary stay until the 24th when the court is expected to decide whether he must comply with the police notices.
The situation worsened when the initial charge of assault against the journalist was elevated to an attempt to murder case, adding to Mohan Babu's legal troubles. Amid rumors that his anticipatory bail plea had been rejected, speculation arose that he had gone into hiding.
However, he clarified to the police that he was undergoing medical treatment and had not absconded.
