Manasumata Vinadu
In some sense, Manasu Maata Vinadu is the most talked about film in the industry for some time now. But, alas, it was not for the right reasons.
The theatrics involving the film's leading lights Navdeep and Ankitha, was good enough to keep the gutter press and film glossies in circulation for several weeks. The gist of the matter was that Ankitha, after alleging that Navdeep had teased her and used some obscene words, is said to have swallowed sleeping pills during the film's shoot in Mauritius.
Once in India, Navdeep naturally denied everything. But there were very little takers for his version. Anyway, the whole matter is now almost dead buried.
Incidentally, the director V N Aditya was away from it all when the kerfuffle broke in Mauritius. Since it was only a song shoot, he had stayed in India.
He must have been happy that incident happened when he was not around. For another, perhaps quite perversely, he may be happy that the whole thing had given his film the much-needed publicity.
Getting back to the film itself, it is very crucial for both Navdeep and Ankitha. Navdeep, especially, has to prove himself. His first film Teja had sunk without a trace. He is still to show that he is a long-race horse.
For Ankitha, even though roles have not been hard to come by, she is still to win a permanent place for herself in the industry. Her glamour and oomph is well known in the industry. But not so her acting abilities. Despite the bad vibes between herself and the hero, she can be trusted to have a good performance.
The film is a typical love story with plenty of songs and dance. Kalyan Malik's music is already a hit. Aditya, known for his style, can handle such subjects with finesse.
The only problem is that the film has to now match its controversies.
