On Saturday afternoon, amid triple lockdown in Kerala's Malappuram district, a man was seen riding on a horse. The Thanur Police who were on vehicle duty stopped the horse and the man and asked him the reason for stepping out.
To which he replied that the horse disagreed to stay at home and so brought him out. He further added that he came out for the ride just for the pleasure of the horse. While the Police were surprised with his answer, they sent him back home saying to ride the horse in his own land and not on the road.
It was on Friday, the Kerala government announced a one-week extension of the state-wide lockdown till May 30, to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced the withdrawal of "triple lockdown" measures being implemented in three districts-- Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, and Thrissur from May 16. However, the "triple lockdown" will be continued in the Malappuram district as the average Test Positive Rate in the district did not fall.
