A shocking incident of rape and murder has come to light in Chennai. On Friday night, a 29-year-old predator gagged a 10-year-old girl, took her to his room, raped her, and threw her off a two-storey building after she fainted.

As reported by The Hindu, the man was arrested in Maduravoya after he confessed to committing the crime. The victim, a Standard V student, had come out of her house at 11 pm. The man had been watching her. He went to her slyly and gagged her. It seems the girl knew the man as a friendly neighbour.

It was much later that the girl's mother realized that her daughter was missing. She and her husband, a street vendor, searched for their daughter, only to find her bleeding in the backyard of the building. They took the help of the perpetrator to rush her to a nearby hospital.

The rapist behaved as though he was shocked. He even took the police to the place of crime so that they don't doubt him. The alert police somehow suspected that the man had killed the girl. They interrogated him and extracted the confession. Cases under Section 376AB (Punishment for rape on girl under 12 years of age), Section 302 (Punishment for murder) of IPC, among others, have been registered against the offender.
