Man held for cheating 200 people by posing as plasma donor

The pandemic has triggered its share of scams. From the medical industry to the pharma sector and even the research/academia sectors, foul play has been there everywhere in some or the other part of the world.
Reddy Sandeep (25) from Srikakulam's Rajam is in the news for duping more than 200 people, some of whom are Covid-19 patients, in the past few weeks. The accused, who has been arrested by the Hyderabad police, has been caught trying to cheat people in the name of plasma donation.
As per a report of The Hindu, Reddy Sandeep had learnt from news reports that the demand for the plasma of recovered Covid-19 patients is huge. He posed himself as a recovered patient and started contacting donees via phone numbers on medical sites. He would first ask the other person to send him money so he can arrange the transport of plasma. After receiving the money, he would stop responding to calls.
On a complaint by a victim, the Banjara Hills and Panjagutta police traced the youth and apprehended him.
