Man arrested for Climbing Eiffel Tower

A man who climbed the French landmark, the Eiffel Tower, was taken into police custody when he reached the top of the tower. The Esplanade and the tower were closed on Monday after the unidentified man was found climbing the 1063 ft structure. The people in the venue were evacuated due to the incident. Tourists expressed their displeasure regarding being inconvenienced.
It is said that the man entered normally and then began to climb the tower from the second floor. Stairs are available only up to the second floor after which the way upwards is by a lift. He held on to the monument for more than 6 hours. It was also reported by BFM TV that the man was threatening to jump off the tower. A specialist rescue team from the Paris Fire Unit was sent to the location. The man was finally arrested in the evening.
