A man burning lakhs of rupees in order to save himself from being caught for a crime of corruption has come to light in Telangana's Nagarkurnool. The individual in question wanted to escape from the long arm of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, but his plan went in vain.
Going into the details, the man had collected Rs 5 lakh from an individual on behalf of the Tahsildar of Veldanda Mandal. The money was paid by the person for a No-Objection Certificate to be issued by the Tahsildar. After paying the bribe, he complained to the ACB about it. The sleuths of the Bureau came knocking on the door of the person who had received the bride on behalf of the Tahsildar.
When he heard the sleuths' knock on the door, he lit up the gas stove in the kitchen and burnt down the currency. Forty-six currency notes of Rs 2,000 denomination got burnt completely, reports say.
Both the person and the Tahsildar whose bidding he had done have since been arrested.
