A curious and tragic incident has come to light in Bihar. In Samastipur district, a husband named Shankar Rai was recently smitten by a snake while sleeping. The victim realized that a snake had bitten him. But he couldn't rescue himself with treatment immediately. Hours later, Rai's condition only aggravated. His wife Amiri Devi was by his side and he bit her wrist in the hope that the poison in his body would get transferred to her.

After her husband's bite, the wife fell unconscious. The couple were rushed to a hospital. Luckily for Devi, she survived. But Rai had no luck. He succumbed to the snake bite.

What explains the weird behaviour of Rai?

The wife has been quoted as saying that her hubby did tell her why he wanted to bite her. "My husband loved me so much that he wanted me to die with him," she said. Devi let him do so.
