Mammootty's much-awaited thriller The Priest was initially scheduled to hit the theaters in the first week of February. Now, the latest is that the team has pushed the release date owing to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the state.
Mammootty himself took to his social media pages to share the new release date. Sharing alongside a bran new poster of the movie, Mammootty wrote, “In cinemas from March 4, 2021”.
The film, directed by Jofin T Chacko, was given a 'U/A' certificate by the Censor Board. The Priest, which is said to be an out-and-out horror thriller, is the first Malayalam superstar film to come out of Malayalam after the Covid induced lockdown.
The movie marks Mammootty's first-ever onscreen collaboration with Manju Warrier. The Priest is penned by Deepu Pradeep and Shyam Menon and is jointly produced by filmmaker B Unnikrishnan and Anto Joseph.
