As reported earlier, Mammootty is teaming up with director Lijo Jose Pellissery for the first time. Titled Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam, the movie was launched recently. Mammootty is producing the film under his newly launched production house Mammootty Company. The film, scripted by Jallikattu-fame S Hareesh from a story by Lijo. Theni Eswar, who shot Peranbu and the upcoming Mammootty-Parvathy Thiruvoth-starrer Puzhu, is behind the camera.The movie is said to be a Malayalam-Tamil bilingual, which has Pazhani as the location. More details regarding the project are expected to be out soon.

Mammootty and Lijo were supposed to work together long back. The two have been in talks for a couple of projects but nothing worked out. Apart from ‘Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam’, the duo are also joining hands for a short segment in the upcoming Netflix anthology based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s stories. Meanwhile, Mammootty returned back from Hungary only recently after wrapping his portions for the Telugu movie ‘Agent’, which has Akhil Akkineni as the lead. The Malayalam actor is playing a prominent role in the film. In Malayalam, Mammootty has completed the shoot of ‘Puzhu’ and ‘Bheeshma Parvam’. After Lijo’s film, he is expected to join the shoot of the fifth instalment in the CBI film series helmed by K Madhu.
