Megastar Mammootty is one of the few actors who has awed the audience playing a number of superhit cop roles. If the latest reports are to be believed, Mammootty is now prepping up to play the role of a Traffic Police inspector for an upcoming movie. The actor is set to reunite with director Shaji Padoor after their previous superhit ‘Abrahaminte Santhathikal’. As it is for the first time, the superstar is going to don such an avatar, Mammooty fans are already excited about the news. Abhilash Pillai, who is scripting the upcoming films ‘Patham Valavu’ and ‘Night Drive’, is penning the screenplay for Mammootty-Shaji Padoor combo’s next as well. Well, an official announcement regarding the movie is awaited.

Meanwhile, Mammootty is expected to resume the shoot of his much-awaited investigative thriller ‘CBI 5 ‘ soon. As you know, after he tested positive for COVID-19, the movie's shoot was temporarily suspended. The first CBI film, Oru CBI Diary Kurippu, was released in 1988 and became an instant success. It was immediately followed by a sequel, Jagratha, in 1989. The third – Sethuramaya Iyer CBI -- in 2004 and the fourth part Nerariyan CBI in 2005. The upcoming part is the final installment of the series that had in fact set a new standard for investigative thrillers in Malayalam cinema. Mammoottys is also awaiting the release of two exciting projects - ‘Puzhu’ and ‘Bheeshma Parvam’.
