Mammootty who had starred in a couple of historical films in his career such as Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha and Pazhassi Raja, has been roped in to play the lead role in yet another period flick that is to be directed by Sajeev Pillai,  a former associate of the legendary director Adoor Gopalakrishnan. The film which is based on the Mamangam festival that was celebrated during the 17th century will feature Mammootty in the role of a warrior.

As the film involves a lot of Kalaripayattu and sword fighting scenes, Mammootty is likely to take up training in the traditional martial art of Kerala. As you know, Mammootty had practiced a bit of Kalaripayattu earlier too for his previous films - Oru Vadakkan Veeragadha and Pazhassi Raja.

The director is currently busy with the groundwork of this project. An official announcement on the details about the rest of the star cast and crew will be made in a couple of months. Produced by Venu Kunnampilly the movie is planned to be made on a budget of Rs 30 crores. The makers are planning to start shoot by the mid of 2018.
