Mammootty has started shooting for his latest venture with Shafi titled Mayavi. The film scripted by the super hit director Rafi Mecartin presents Mammootty in a very special character. It is a complete mass masala movie with Mammootty playing the role of a smart guy who fights against injustice in the society. He recognizes various places of social dilemma and takes action to set them right. His superhuman effort never goes public as Police and people are in the lookout for the person who is doing all these for public. He secretly clears off the thugs and thus helps the people live a peaceful life

Gopika plays the female lead role and actors like Manoj.K.Jayan, Vijayaraghavan, Kireekadan Jose, Spadikam George and Jagathy play various other important roles. Alex Paul has composed the music with lyrics written by Vayalar Sarachadra Varma.

"A complete entertainer that would go down well with Mammootty's youth audience", says the director, on the film. The film will have sentiments, fights and songs in the right ratio. The film is scheduled for release in the first week of February next year.

Shafi was the director of the super hit film of 2005 Thommanum Makkalum which started the jovial, lighter characterizations of Mammootty.
