As the curtain rises on 2024, the illustrious Mammootty is set to maintain his cinematic reign, continuing to captivate audiences with his impeccable film choices and commanding performances, a trend that reverberated throughout the compelling narratives of 2023.
Commencing the new year on a crescendo, Mammootty has unveiled a captivating poster from his upcoming film, Bramayugam, offering a tantalizing glimpse into a hitherto unseen facet of his on-screen persona. In this latest visual revelation, reminiscent of the initial monochromatic teaser a few months ago, Mammootty's character dons a crown inspired by the ancient folk ritual art form of Theyyam. Adorned with attached horns and transformative makeup, the poster hints at a character transcending the bounds of ordinary human existence.
Under the directorial prowess of Rahul Sadasivan, known for his acclaimed debut work Bhoothakaalam, Bramayugam emerges as a full-fledged horror film intricately woven into the dark tapestry of Kerala's bygone eras. The film's evocative tagline, "the age of madness," further accentuates its eerie premise, promising an immersive and spine-chilling cinematic experience.
Extending New Year wishes to his dedicated fan base, Mammootty sets the stage for Bramayugam, a production jointly orchestrated by Night Shift Studios and YNot Studios. The ensemble cast includes Arjun Ashokan, Sidharth Bharathan, and Amalda Liz in pivotal roles, with Shehnad Jalal handling director of photography duties, Shafique Mohammed Ali in the editor's chair, and Christo Xavier providing the haunting musical backdrop.
Reflecting on the culmination of the film's production in October, director Rahul expressed his elation, remarking, "I am elated to be living the dream of directing the stalwart Mammookka. Bramayugam is a rooted story set in the dark ages of Kerala, and I am glad to be backed by the producers in pushing the boundaries of making this into an immersive film experience. I hope it will be a treat to Mammookka’s fans and fans of the genre across the world."
While speculations hint at a potential February release, the exact unveiling date remains shrouded in uncertainty. Excitingly, Bramayugam is not confined to its original Malayalam version but is set to captivate audiences in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi, promising a pan-Indian cinematic spectacle.
