The wait is over! The release date of Mammootty's much-hyped fifth installment of the investigative franchise, ‘CBI 5: The Brain’ has been announced online. A day ago, Mammootty himself took to his social media handle to announce that ‘CBI 5: The Brain’ will hit theatres on May 1. "CBI 5 - The Brain Releasing Worldwide on May 1 , 2022," penned the actor sharing alongside a brand new poster of the movie, which has cleared the censor formalities with a U/A certificate.

It was recently, the movie's teaser was unveiled and had already generated a huge buzz around the project. The trailer gave a glimpse of CBI officers Sethurama Iyer (Mammootty) character, who is heard asking if there is any common link in the murders of Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and the death of Sanjay Gandhi. Going by the teaser, it looks like Sethurama Iyer and his team are investigating something really big in the upcoming installment and movie buffs are going crazy over it.

‘CBI 5: The Brain’ comes with the tagline ‘The Man with no boundaries’ and is helmed by the director K Madhu who directed the previous installments as well. Penned by SN Swamy, the movie will mark the return of the legendary actor Jagathy Sreekumar to acting after a long gap. He will be reprising the role of inspector Vikram in the upcoming movie. Meanwhile, actor Mukesh will be also reprising the role of Chacko in the upcoming installment of the CBI series that also has a list of new casts that include Anoop Menon, Ramesh Pisharody, Soubin Shahir, Sudev Nair, Kaniha, Dileesh Pothan, and Malavika Menon.
