If the reports are to be believed, Mammootty`s much awaited bi-lingual project Peranbu is gearing up for release. This upcoming Mammootty starrer film has a transgender heroine Anjali Ameer. The 21-year-old Malayali model is the first transgender actress from the State, to act in a mainstream movie as a heroine, though a few others have made appearances in small budget movies before. After Mammootty introduced his new heroine through his Facebook handle, the audiences have been eagerly waiting for the movie's release. Now, sources say that the movie is on the verge of completion and is expected to release soon.

Written and directed by Ram, Peranbu marks to be a comeback of the actor in Kollywood after a long gap. The movie also stars Sarath Kumar, Kaniha and Suraj Venjaramoodu in pivotal characters. Thanga Meengal fame Baby Sadhana will be seen as Mammootty`s daughter in the movie. Bankrolled by P. L. Thenappan, under the banner Sri Rajalakshmi Films, Peranbu has music Yuvan Shankar Raja.
