1. "Taskaraveeran": Director duo Pramod-Pappan's long-awaited Mammootty-starrer makes it to the marquee at last. A 'masala' mix that will enthral his fans.

2. "Kochi Rajavu": This film has given a reprieve to Dileep, who was having a lull at the box office. Director Johnny Antony's approach of blending comedy (Dileep's strong point) with action has worked wonders for the actor's fortunes.

3. "Thommanum Makkallum": This comic caper is still going strong. Director Shafi's reworking of the tried and tested formula has come good and producer-actor-distributor Lal is laughing all the way to the bank.

4. "Ben Johnson": This is not the life-story of the controversial Canadian athlete of yesteryears. Here, Kalabhavan Mani plays a police officer who joins the force through the sports quota. The film was directed by Anil Menon with Mani as the protagonist, which is a rarity.

5. "Banglavil Outha" - This is another rarity. Debutant director Santhivila Dinesh makes Lal don the role of a septuagenarian patriarch. As if this were not enough, the lanky, bearded actor portrays the role of one of the patriarch's three sons.
