Following the trends shown in all other private awards, the first Mangalam film awards also selected Mammootty and Manju Warrier as the best in acting from the films of 2014. While Mammootty was named for his performance in films-' Munnariyippu' and 'Varsham', Manju Warrier was named the best for her character of Nirupama Rajeev from 'How Old are You?' Abrid Shine was selected the best director for his '1983' while 'Vellimoonga' was selected the best film of 2014. The award which was selected though Gallup Polls also named Najeem Arshad and Vani Jayaram as best play back singers while the youth icon awards went to Nivin Pauly and Miya.

Jomon T John was named the best cinematographer for 'Vikramadityan' while Bobby -Sanjay are the best screen writers.Senior actor Balachandra Menon was named for life time achievement award,for his contributions to Mollywood cinema. The awards will be given away in a colorful function organized on the 18th of this month at Kottayam.
