Recently, the 66th National awards were announced and actress Keerthy Suresh won the national award for best actress while many movies like KGF, Mahanati, Baaram, Uri the Surgical Strike, Andhadhun won awards in various categories. Except for Baaram, Kollywood did not receive any significant award.

After the announcement of the awards, fans of actor Mammootty had been disappointed that his acting in Peranbu did not receive National award, and started messaging and posting comments on the social media profile of Rahul Rawail, the chairman of national awards jury. Following this, Rawail had messaged Mammootty and posted his message and Mammootty's reply to the same.

He had mailed Mammootty ""Hi, Mr.Mammoty. There has been a lot of hate mail’, that to extremely nasty, that I have been receiving from your fans, or so called fan clubs, as to why you were not given the National Award as Best Actor for the film Peranbo’. Let me set the record straight: Firstly, NOBODY HAS THE RIGHT TO QUESTION A JURY DECISION. Secondly, your film Peerambu’ had been REJECTED by the Regional Panel and hence did not contend in the Central Panel. Your fans and/or devotees should stop fighting a lost cause. Never question a Jury!". Following this Mammootty had apologized, and his message was ""Sorry sir. I have no knowledge about it. Still, I apologize for what had happened". However now Rahul Rawail has deleted both these posts on Facebook.
