Mambattiyan's release confirmed

At last, director-producer Thiyagarajan has fixed a release date for his magnum opus 'Mambattiyan', which stars his son Prashanth in the lead role. The film will hit the screens on July 15.

A remake of Thiyagarajan-starrer 'Malayur Mambattiyan', the new version has Meera Jasmine and Vadivelu in pivotal roles. Simbu aka STR has crooned the remix of ‘Kaatu vazhi pora pulla...', which is said to be one of the highlights.

Prashanth had worked tirelessly for the film. He took painstaking efforts to ensure that all is well as far as Mambattiyan is concerned. Since he was already an expert at martial arts, it helped him a lot while shooting the film, a source tells us.

Once the film hits the screens, Prashanth will decide on his next project, the source says and adds: Since his last two movies ('Ponnar Shankar' and 'Mambattiyan') are period films, his next will be on a contemporary theme.
