Amit Shah, addressing a rally in Nandigram, West Bengal, ahead of the second phase of Assembly elections (April 1), on Tuesday said that Mamata Banerjee is going to lose her own seat. The TMC supremo is locking horns with BJP candidate Suvendu Adhikari, her former lieutenant, in Nandigram.
The Union Home Minister said that Mamata Banerjee's loss will make change in Bengal easy.
There is a perception that the Chief Minister is jittery that she may not retain her own seat. She has been camping in Nandigram for the past three days. She hasn't campaigned in any of the other second phase seats in the said period. Is she nervous that she will not retain the seat? This is the question many political observers are asking.
Nandigram, where the TMC and the BJP are engaged in a tough fight, is said to be polarized between Hindus and Muslims. The CM is counting on Muslim votes. On the other hand, the BJP is mobilizing Hindu votes by highlighting her record of Muslim appeasement.
