In a long time, Malupu is one dubbed film which has done very well in Telugu. The thriller film has been drawing audiences in good numbers mainly because of the gripping second half. The makers say that this is despite the fact that there were four releases on Feb 26, two (Kshanam and Terror) of which have been declared BO hits.

Producer Ravi Raja Pinisetty says, "Malupu was released on Feb 19 and has been having the cash registers ringing. In spite of many releases in the second week, Malupu's collections only got stronger with increased number of screens in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states. In Hyderabad alone, nearly 12 more screens were added to the list."

Director Sathya Prabhas says, "I am happy that Malupu not only got critical acclaim, but also BO success. It's word of mouth publicity which helped the film most."

Aadhi Pinisetty says, "I am really happy that all sections of the audience have received Malupu well. After Vaishali, this is the film in which my performance has been liked by everyone. Glad that my dad is finally going to pay my remuneration as the movie is turning out to be a commercial success. This success will only make me grow as a responsible actor."
