Director of some of the noteworthy films `Sambrama, Sainika, Sarvabowma, Sidhu' Mahesh Sukadhare deviating to `M' letter title this time `Malebille' has not been able to give a convincing and precise film. He is the producer too from this film. The need of the present genre is not calculated well in the four walls while doing the script. The first half is hopeless and second half is filled with some sacrifice saga. The talkative nature of the protagonist and his pranks remind of Ganesh of `Mungaru Male' but not all can become Ganesh. This aping is what irks the audience.
A careless youth Anand (Akshay) is behind Anjali (Pragna) always instead of studies. Anjali has set her priorities right. She wants to become a top computer professional. She cares her foot for the signals of Anand. Whenever Anjali sees Anand something bad happens to her, she considers Anand as bad omen. On an important day Anjali is to remit Rs.1.25 lakh for her studies after passing out in CET exams but she is duped. In a fit of disappointment she decides to end her life and admitted to the hospital. At this time the cop who has received the complaint of cheating case from Anjali earlier gives a surprise. Anjali gets back the lost money. After five years she is a software guy and the poverty in her life has ended. Anand is still a careless guy and he has a job now in a motor company. Anand seriously loving Anjali is a known fact but the truth is that Anjali likes Akash (Diganth) her colleague in the office. At the Kalyana Mantap the marriage is set between Anjali and Akash. It is the inspector who comes to expose the sacrifice of Anand that really touches everyone. Akash says Anand is the right guy for Anjali.
This is a good debut for Akshay. He has good looks but stand before the mirror to practice his emotions. Pragna has not much to do. Diganth the current sensation is wasted in an inconsequential role. Doddanna is fine, Ramakrishna is superb, Komal, Sharan in the comedy are tolerable.
Manikanth Khadri has roped in his father saxophone specialist Khadri Gopalanath for a small bit in the Kalyana Mantap scene. As the newcomer Manikanth Khadri has done two lovely tunes. Naanu Ninna Chumbisale. And Chandama Chandamama are worth hearing.
Cinetech Soori camera in the rainy portions is convincing but there are some close up shots that are blurring. Interesting first half `Malebille' would have been a good entertainer.
Scoring - 6/10
