The woes of 'Padmaavat' are many. It has now been banned in Malaysia, which has become the first country to impose it.

"The storyline of the film touches on the sensitivities of Islam. That in itself is a matter of grave concern in Malaysia, a Muslim-majority country," the South East Asian country's censor board has said.

A distributor who will now be at a loss is going to appeal against the ban.

Even in an intolerant country like Pakistan, the movie was released without any cuts. It was given 'U' by its censor board. But Malaysia has resorted to the ban on religious grounds.
