Fifth National Award for Mohanlal

The Complete Actor Mohanlal has won Special Jury Award for Best Actor for his performance in the films 'Puli Murugan' (Malayalam), 'Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol' (Malayalam) and 'Janatha Garage' in the 64th National Awards announced today by the I & B Ministry

This is the fifth National award won by the veteran star who is hailed as the one the Best Actors Indian cinema has ever produced.

Mohanlal won the Special Jury Award in 1989 for his performance in 'Kireedam'. Then he won the National Award for Best Actor in 1991 and 1999 for 'Bharathan' and 'Vanaprastham'.

'Vanaprastham' also won the Best Film award for the year 1999 and the award was given to Mohanlal the Producer of the film.

Hence this becomes the Fifth National Award grabbed by Mohanlal and his fourth as an actor.
