10 must watch Malayalam movies on Amazon prime!

Coronavirus pandemic has left the whole world in a standstill, and has locked everyone in their homes to ensure safety. To kill time, people are seen resorting to watching movies or series on OTT platforms like Amazon prime, Netflix or Hotstar. Malayalam film industry is one of the top industries in terms of content quality, and have been consistently delivering good movies for many years now.

Here's a list of interesting Malayalam movies available on Amazon prime.

Manoharam (2019):

Anvar Sadik’s Manoharam starring Vineeth Sreenivasan revolves around a struggling poster artist who desired to earn respect from his profession. However he decides to take a different route by enhancing his knowledge by learning software skills. The movie is all about whether the poster artist found success in his attempt.

Trance (2020):

Starring one of the best actors of the world Fahadh Faasil, the movie revolves around a motivation trainer Viju Prasad who enters a web of religion, controversy and evangelism headed by the evil Solomon, and transforms to pastor Joshua Carlton. Was Viju able to reach what he desired and whether he was able to get out of this dangerous maze is what Anwar Rasheed's Trance is about.

Ayyapanum Koshiyum (2020):

Directed by Sachy, this movie comes straight after Driving Licence and is a tale of the ego clash between an ex army man koshi and police officer Ayyapan Nair and who ultimately won the battle. With superb performances by Prithviraj and Biju Menon, this one's a terrific watch.

Driving licence (2019):

Directed by Lal Jr and written by Sachy, this movie is again an exciting clash of egos with a star Hareendran clashing with an RTO police officer, and how they war to prove their might and who wins the war. Prithviraj as the superstar and Suraj Venjaramoodu as the RTO give impressive performances which are realistic and engaging.

Kettiyollaanu Ente Maalakha(2019):

Kettiyollaanu Ente Maalakha revolves around a farmer Sleevachan, the sole breadwinner of his family comprising of his mother and four sisters. Following the marriages of his sisters married, he enters married life as well but his insecurities continue to haunt his life and hid wife.

Helen (2019):

Mathukutty Xavier’s Helen is a survival thriller starring Anna Ben as a young girl Helen working part-time in a food outlet, her bond with her father, her love life and how situations turn upside down after she gets locked in a building, leading to her dad and lover taking all efforts to rescue her.

Varikkuzhiyile Kolapathakam(2019):

Rejishh Midhila’s Varikkuzhiyile Kolapathakam follows events happening on an island named Arayanthuruth, and a pastora Vincent Kombana who enforces the law there. As he witnesses a murder and the murderer confesses he's left in a situation where he could not reveal it due to his religious beliefs.

Ambili (2019):

Ambili is a beautiful tale about the life of Ambili who is a different character, and portrays his life in two segments - his life in the beautiful village of Kattappana, and his road trip in Kashmir. The movie is solely powered by terrific performance by Soubin Shahir and the honesty in Johnpaul George's making.

Virus (2019):

Directed by Aashiq Abu and starring an ensemble cast including Tovino, Joju George, Indrajith and Parvathy the movie traces the horrors of the 2018 Nipah virus outbreak in Kerala and realistically presents the measures and precautions the government made to rescue the state out of deep trouble. A must watch at the times of Coronavirus pandemic.

Kumbalangi nights (2019):

Kumbalangi Nights is one of the most beautiful films to have released in Malayalam in 2019. The movie has Fahadh Faasil in a crazy role besides also producing it and is about four brothers and their relationship, troubles, love, bonding and how they unite and lead lives together amidst troubles is what's narrated in a 135-minute long family-drama. With great cinematography and music Kumbalangi Nights is a must watch.
