He was the first choice for 'Mahabharatha', who?

There has been high media buzz about the upcoming mega budget film titled Mahabharatha, which is based on noted writer MT Vasudevan Nair's novel Randamoozham. Megastar Mohanlal is playing the lead role in the movie.
VA Shrikumar is directing the movie. However, as per the latest reports, he was not the first choice for the movie. Earlier Mohanlal has approached ace filmmaker Santosh Sivan for this project. Due to other commitments he was unable to give his consent. And ultimately VA Shrikumar has got the project.
Meanwhile, Shrikumar is currently working on his debut directorial Odiyan.
