Famous film producer charged in rape case

The Kerala police have registered a sexual assault case against popular Malayalam film producer Vaishak Rajan at the Ernakulam North police station after a model accused him of harassing her.

The 25-year-old Thrissur woman filed a complaint on the producer after alleging him of raping her at his apartment in Kochi after he called her to his place in the pretext of offering her a movie. The incident happened in 2017, the same time Malayalam actor Dileep was arrested on charges of rape. One of Vaishak’s productional ventures “Welcome to Central Jail” starred Dileep in the lead.

The accused has produced several movies, including Role Models (2017) and Padmashri Bharat Dr. Saroj Kumar (2012) under the ‘Vaishaka Cynyma’ banner.
