In February 2017 a popular Malayalam and Tamil actress was abducted and molested and was later blackmailed with the video by prime accused Pulsar Suni and others. As the case was investigated Malayalam superstar Dileep was arrested as the mastermind and later came out on bail.
Dileep had sought a copy of the molestation video claiming that he could prove that they were morphed and he was framed. Several courts declined to give the copy to him and he approached the Supreme Court. The survivor has now approached the country's highest court requesting that the video footage should not be given to any of the accused including Dileep.
The actress has stated that this would ensure a fair trial without her privacy being infringed. There is also fear that the accused could leak the video and tarnish the image of the survivor.
