This period of uncertainty has taken a toll on all sections of society and the film industry is no different. Malayalam Cinema producer's association has requested its actors and technicians to take up a salary challenge by reducing their pay by half. This is applicable after the Coronavirus outbreak comes into control and the industry gets back to normal.
As the mere reduction of fees won't be of any help, the association decided to cut down their professional fees by 50 percent, said producer Sureshkumar. However, the biggies in the industry are yet to respond to the directive.
As many as seven Malayalam films which were all set to hit the screens, during Easter and the Ramzan period did not see the light and several other films got stuck in various stages of production, there is uncertainty in revenue from theatres, television channel rights etc. So, in order to revive the industry, the producer's association made this decision.
