Malayalam actor Sreenivasan hospitalised; On Ventilator support

Popular Malayalam actor and filmmaker Sreenivasan, who recently underwent a bypass surgery, has been put on ventilatory support. According to reports, the actor's health condition worsened after the surgery and has been shifted to ventilator at a private hospital in Ernakulam, Kerala.It was on March 30, the actor complained of a chest pain. After diagnoses and angiogram test, it was found that he was suffering from triple vessel disease. Subsequently, he underwent a bypass surgery on March 31. After the surgery, he was given ventilator support for three days. But after he was moved off support, he developed an infection and has now been moved back on the ventilator again, says the doctors at the hospital. On Thursday, the doctors have said that Sreenivasan was responding well to the treatment. He is reportedly stable now.
The veteran actor, who predominantly works in the Malayalam film industry, is known for playing comedy and character roles. He is an actor, Having acted in over 225 films in his long career, the actor has also won the National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues in 2000 for Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala. The actor-director has also won several other awards for his work, including the Kerala State Film Award for Best Film in 1989 for Vadakkunokkiyantram. He is also an acclaimed screenwriter, director, dubbing artist and producer. Last seen in Pyali, the actor is awaiting the release of Makal, a Sathyan Anthikad directorial that has starring Jayaram and Meera Jasmine in the lead roles.
