Superstar Rajinikanth starrer Petta directed by Karthik Subbaraj, marked the Tamil debut of actress Malavika Mohanan, the daughter of one of the most wanted cinematographers of the country KU Mohanan and she got a role that had more scope than Trisha and Simran.

She had played Poongodi, Sasikumar's pair in Petta. Having already debuted in Malayalam with Pattam Pole costarring Dulquer Salmaan and in the internationally acclaimed movie Beyond the clouds directed by Iranian maker Majid Majidi, Malavika Mohanan has now signed her next movie.

Malavika Mohanan will be paired with none other than the phenomenon of Tollywood Vijay Devarakonda in a sports based musical entertainer titled Hero and this movie will mark her Telugu debut. Hero will be directed by debutant Anand Annamalai who had been the dialogue writer of kaaka muttai.
