Looking at the box office outcome of Malamaal Weekly over last 10 days, it appears to be quite reminiscent to what one witnessed a few years back with Priyadarshan's first comic hit 'Hera Pheri'.

When 'Hera Pheri' was released, it had opened to average reviews and lukewarm response but only gained from strength to strength as the days progressed. In fact it was one of those rare movies that kept stepping up on the charts after every week and touched peak in its 4th week (when the trend is completely inverse).

On similar lines, 'Malamaal Weekly' too opened to average to below average reviews, though the opening was much better. Now 10 days after the movie's release, word of mouth has spread like fire with beelines in front of theatres screening the film. After having recovered its investment already, the movie seems to be on way to be yet another big success for Priyadarshan.
